Elaine, is a  Tight Curls specialist, she is an expert at defining curls in kinky hair who has recently  relocated from her native Charlotte, NC, to Jacksonville, FL. After several successful years as a braid specialist, Elaine decided to promote her approach to make hair healthier, easier to style and free of damages like alopecia created by cornrows. After she was trained in the art of curls, she became one of the most famous curls figurehead in the US and Africa. Elaine has created the Tight Curls Nation which spreads knowledge on kinky hair care but also most importantly on positive images of women with kinky hair. Every year she travels the world to speak at conferences and teaches online classes. Elaine is an adept of the “no butter, no cream, no oil” and emphasizes technique above haircare products even if she uses natural products. Above all, Elaine is an adept of the « shape over length », as well as of humidity control. Scissors and a good hair dryer are her favorite tools!

Emmanuelle Soundjata

Emmanuelle Soundjata, stylist and creator in Maré Tèt, CEO of the workshop Maré TET is at the origin of the workshop concept MARE TET as well as the  MARE TET  brand trademarked with INPI since 2010. Today, the Maré Têt  expression is widespread and part of common language all over the world. In addition to showing the stunning styles of hair turban such as Body Wrap and MARE TET, Emmanuelle runs workshops to promote her art. In 2022, she was awarded by CARIBBWIIN which acknowledges artistic work and comprehensive research. In the 1800s, in Louisiana, the Tignon law forced black women to cover their hair whose beauty could seduce white men. These women went around the restriction by adorning their turbans with flowers and jewelry. « Head wrapping » came from this and has become a hairstyle now rightfully considered to be an art. Emmanuelle Soundjata teaches her students precise techniques (straightening, head tightening and wrapping) with different models she created such as the « bamboche » or the designs with flowers with 1 or 2 turbans.
